Anti-Anxiety Foods To Calm Your Mind

Everybody experiences anxiety from time to time (some more than necessary) and it's mostly believed that this anxiety comes from influences from the outside world, different situations and events. Well, that's not completely true. Your diet has a lot to do with anxiety actually, more than you'd think! Don't even think about taking anti-anxiety medication in stressful times, overcoming anxiety involves making lifestyle changes, and that including changing what you eat. There are many foods that will help cure and prevent anxiety, and foods that will contribute to anxiety. By choosing the right foods, you can prevent and cut down on the amount of anxiety you experience in stressful situations, it can possibly improve your mood as well. How awesome is that?!

I'd like to share some foods today that improve your happiness and reduce stress. Combine these foods with a balanced diet and you should see a marked difference in your anxiety levels.

Some things you should definately avoid (you'll see your anxiety levels drop drastically, I promise!!): anything that contains damaging E-numbers (processed foods), refined sugars, coffee (unless it's black & biological, one cup a day!), nicotine, stressful news & situations and negative people (if it's not directly important to you, please avoid!).

Hope you like this list. If there's something you think I should add, please let me know :).

Top 6 Foods To Relax Your Mind

1. Cashews

According to Dr Andrew Saul from the Food Matters film, two handfuls of cashews provide the equivalent mood boosting effects as a therapeutic dose of Prozac. How do they do this? They are one of the highest natural sources of tryptophan, the precursor for the production of serotonin, the feel good hormone, in the brain.

Leontine Hagoort, one of my favorite bag designers! Her bags and accessories are exclusive little works of art, made with craftmanship and a great eye for detail. Each piece is designed with one purpose: to add a spark to your everyday life. One of those collections to lust for, I want to own every single piece! She is Dutch, like myself :), which makes this collection even more special. Sharing some of my favorite today! Naeem Khan Spring 2014

Today I'm sharing the Spring 2014 collection of Naeem Khan, and oh my, I'm in love! Khan found inspiration in all things Latin this season, Mexico, Frida Kahlo, flamenco dancers... all things I absolutely adore. As some of you might know, I'm a Mexico obsessor :) and always happy to see when another big disigner got inspired by this beautiful country and culture. The models were crowned in Kahlo's signature headband braid (no unibrows hehe), such a nice touch. A gorgeous decadent collection with fine Mexican embroidery and prints. Enjoy!

Health Benefits Of Kissing

Today, a Valentine's Day special :)! Ever wondered if kissing has any health benefits? Well...yes! I always thought kissing was good for your health, because it feels good and makes you feel happy of course, but there's actually more to it! It's really not that romantic to think about, but it seems plausible that kissing would have an underlying biological function. Today I wanted to share a list by Hungry for Change, explaining some health benefits of kissing.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone, enjoy and hopefully you'll receive many many kisses! And keep in mind; a kiss a day really can keep the doctor away!

1. Reduce Your Blood Pressure

Kissing helps to dilate your blood vessels, which may help lower your blood pressure.

2. Relieve Cramps & Headaches

The blood-vessel-dilation effect described above also helps to relieve pain, particularly from headache or menstrual cramps.

3. Fight Cavities

When you kiss, saliva production increases in your mouth, and this helps to wash away plaque on your teeth that may lead to cavities. That said, cavity-causing bacteria can also be transmitted via a kiss, especially if the person you’re kissing has poor oral habits. It’s even been shown that cavity-causing bacteria can spread from a mother’s kiss to her baby.

4. Release Your Happy Hormones

Kissing prompts your brain to release a happy elixir of feel-good chemicals like serotonin, dopamine, and oxytocin. This isn’t only important for your happiness; it may also help to strengthen your relationship. Interestingly, kissing activates the same areas in your brain linked to reward and addiction. Your lips are also densely packed with sensory neurons, which are stimulated by the touch of another’s lips. This prompts the release of sebum, which is thought to play a role in bonding.

5. Burn Calories

It’s not going to replace your workout session… but a vigorous kiss may burn 8-16 calories. Not too shabby for a kiss.

6. Boost Your Self-Esteem

One study found that men who received a passionate kiss before they left for work earned more money. This suggests the kiss (and perhaps the happy home-life it suggests) makes people happier, boosts self-esteem and, ultimately, more productive at work.

7. Tone Your Facial Muscles

A vigorous kiss helps you shape up your neck and jawline by working out a number of facial muscles.

8. Check Out Your Partner’s Compatibility

A kiss can be a powerful measure of your initial attraction to a person, so much so that the majority of men and women surveyed reporting that a first kiss could be a turn-off. Women, in particular, place more importance on kissing as a “mate-assessment device” and as a means of “initiating, maintaining, and monitoring the current status of their relationship with a long-term partner.”

Fashion Flashback: Blumarine Spring Summer 2005

"Fashion is a mix of sensations and cultural influences, a return to the past and a vision of the future." - Anna Molinari

There are some fashion shows you'll never forget. My favorite shows are the Blumarine fashions shows from 2005 to 2006, their best years in my opinion. It has been almost 10 years, but still I get so excited each time I see these shows. As a fashion designer I've been inspired by Blumarine in many ways. The combination of prints and colors are divine! Especially the Spring Summer show of 2005, which I'll be sharing today, really left its mark...an uber femenine Boho Gypsy collection which has been hunting my dreams since the first time I saw it. If you adore Boho Gypsy style and haven't seen this show.. I recommend you to see this show, immediately, in full! :)

What do you think of this show? Wishing everyone a lovely weekend!
